Welcome to 1st grade!
Allow me to give you a bit of background information on myself. I grew up in northeast Kansas where I was very active at St. Ann's Parish. I am the middle of five children and the eldest daughter. I have a daughter of my own who attends Washburn University. I am a graduate of Missouri Western State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education. I first knew I loved teaching when I took a high school class as a teacher's aide for the special education program. After my daughter was born I worked as a para educator and then went on to tutoring, subbing, and eventually teaching. My primary experience has been as a special needs teacher, but the transition to the general education classroom has been exciting! I previously worked for public and private schools before making the move to Topeka. My philosophy is that everyone can learn; we all just learn differently and at different rates. I truly believe that building a partnership with families does allow students to meet their fullest potential. Please feel free to come visit the room. I ask that you let me know so that we can coordinate times to ensure we are in the classroom. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. I can be reached via message at the school during school hours at (785)234-8980, email at [email protected] , or by signing up for Class Dojo.
Here is to a wonderful year of teaching, learning, and hopefully...a lot of fun!
